~Be Fierce Campaign~
Real photography to showcase the real YOU!
I am a mother of 4 first and foremost and photographer 2nd. When my fifth grader was struggling a bit with her self image, we went a few different routes to help. We talked to the counselor at school, we tried to engage her in more social activities with her peers, and I let her plan and design her own special “you” photo session. From the first moment she planned her outfit, accessories, and worked on her posing. The day of her shoot she was so excited and glowing with anticipation. She loved knowing she put the shoot together, it fit her style and how she wanted herself portrayed. She loved her photos and stood I swear feet taller after the shoot. With her photos in tote; she strode into school to flaunt her photos to her teachers and friends. Her photo is at the top of this page….Her self esteem blossomed and the thought that I had a hand in helping her, makes me melt. I tear up with the thought that I helped her , not just as a mother, but as a photographer. So I have started this campaign to help and bring that you. Because I truly believe in this 100% (infinity percent; as my children say), Because we need to stop comparing ourselves to others, Because we are all beautiful and have the right to show it, Because YOU ARE WORTHY, Because beauty is the one thing that is eternal; it expands beyond race, age, and gender; offering a means for everyone. Because I believe we can together give you and every individual the means to express their inner self, Because I believe in my soul that beauty is choosing individuality over conformity. Watch this video and take a moment to contemplate how you feel about yourself and how you think others portray you. The way we feel about ourselves affects not only ourselves but everything in our lives, how we interact with others to how we treat our children.
This campaign offers free photo sessions to children who may need that boost, who may need or know someone that may need or want to stand a bit taller and feel good about themselves. To prove to themselves what their parents and family already knows ~ YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, YOU ARE WORTHY, YOU ARE WORTH IT, YOU ARE PERFECT, AND YOU ARE THE MOST AMAZING PERSON EVER! I am going to end this with some of my favorite quotes from amazing women or characters…I think they are perfect!
“Your imperfections make you perfect, your insecurities make you secure, but your flaws…They make you flawless”
“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.” Jane Eyre
“… one flaw throws the loveliness of [everything else] into focus. I remember reading that Shakers deliberately introduced a mistake into the things they made, to show that man shouldn’t aspire to the perfection of God. Flawed can be more perfect than perfection.”
~ Gretchen Rubin
